This master?s thesis focus on Dewey Decimal Classification during the period 1932 to 2011, where the classification of the psychological knowledge domain is analyzed and discussed. In the light of the recent swedish switch from the swedish classification system SAB to DDC, this research area deserves prominence. The aim of this study is to investigate how DDC represents the historical development of the psychology subject with its underlying epistemology, to identify and analyze values and prejudice, and to analyze problems with DDC?s classification of psychology in relation to three other classification systems.

Arbetet undersöker de synskadades och blindas uppfattningar om den offentliga miljön, samt belyser förutsättningar och konkreta utformningar som möjliggör de synskadades vistelse i offentligheten.  Arbetet behandlar två olika intressen som står mot varandra; bevarandevärdet och de funktionshindrades möjligheter. Jag undersökte hur synskadade och blinda orienterar sig i offentliga miljöer och på vilket sätt jag kunde applicera deras kunskap i ett trapphus på Birger Jarlsgatan 20 i centrala Stockholm som är blåmärkt. Genom teorier, intervjuer, observationer och självrapporter kunde jag bilda en uppfattning om hur personer orienterar sig i offentlighet. Jag kunde lokalisera farliga platser i den aktuella lokalen samt fick uppfattning om hur det är att inte kunna ta del av den visuella världen..

This Masters thesis concerns epistemology in Knowledge Organization KO, as a field of study in Library and Information Science LIS. Using a theoretical model by Birger Hjørland and foucauldian discourse analysis as springboards, this study analyses three epistemological discourses in the practice of KO. The aim of the study is to show how these discourses are constituted and demarcated in relation to KO, as well as to examine how they fit into Hjørlands model. A brief historical outline of some epistemological trends in LIS is sketched, as well as examples of how different epistemological schools influence different parts of KO, e.g. information retrieval, indexing- and classification theory.

The aim of this paper is to compare subject headings by the authors of the work and those administrated by professional indexers. The empirical setting for the study lies within the sociological discipline. The questions asked are:? What overall similarities and differences between subject headings administrated by authors versus indexers can we find?? What qualitative advantages and disadvantages can we establish between subject headings generated by natural language versus controlled vocabularies?Subject headings in the Swedish national library catalogue Libris and in five Swedish universities platforms for academic publishing are studied and compared. Today it is praxis at Swedish universities that administration of subject headings is done by authors and not by professional indexers.

The aim of my master?s thesis has been to examine the situation of the price lists in the National Library of Sweden, in Uppsala University Library and in the Nordiska Museet Library. The starting point was that the institutes have been operating within different institutional practices. These operational differences between the institutes have affected the collecting, the organizing and the accessibility to the information of the price lists. My master?s thesis is based on Birger Hjørlands theories of domains and knowledge organization.

Syftet med denna uppsats är att studera hur mode- och klädföretag arbetar strategiskt i en snabbföränderlig och oförutsägbar omvärld. Huvudfrågeställningen rör vilken eller vilka kombinationer av strategier som företag tillämpar på en föränderlig marknad samt hur företag kan hitta balans mellan långsiktighet, stabilitet och flexibilitet. Uppsatsen utgår ifrån en utvecklande studie med ett abduktivt angreppssätt och är baserad på fyra fallföretag: JC, Bestseller, Day Birger et Mikkelsen och Filippa K. Slutsatser: De modeföretag vi undersökt använder sig av ett dualt strategiperspektiv. Långsiktiga strategier används för utveckling av företagets strategiska och dynamiska resurser som dels skapar en stabilitet för företaget i den kaotiska miljön och dels kan verka som ett ramverk som sätter gränser för handlingsutrymmet.

Syftet med undersökningen har varit att kartlägga de viktigaste nationalsocialistiska rörelserna i Sverige mellan åren 1924 - 1950. Tonvikten i undersökningen har lagts på åren 1930 ? 1936 då nationalsocialismen i Sverige anses ha haft sin höjdpunkt. De frågeställningar som besvarats är följande. Hur såg partibildningarna och deras aktiviteter ut och vilka personer låg bakom dessa? Vilka politiska krav på samhället ställde de nationalsocialistiska partierna? Hur mycket respektive litet inflytande fick nationalsocialisterna i samhället och varför? Vilken påverkan hade nationalsocialisterna på riksdagsdebatten? Vilket politiskt- och samhälleligt klimat rådde under den tid då nationalsocialisterna hade sin höjdpunkt? Vilken syn hade statsmakten på nationalsocialisterna och vilka åtgärder vidtogs mot dem? Metoden har varit att genom kvalitativa litteraturstudier och kompletterande arkivundersökningar fullgöra syftet och besvara ovanstående frågeställningar.

Uppsatsens syfte är att undersöka hur skapande människor beskriver inspiration i sina skapandeprocesser genom att analysera texter skrivna utav fem olika skapande människor själva. Birger Gerhardsson (2014) har skrivit i Nationalencyklopedin att inspiration är ett andligt fenomen som övergår människans förmåga. Vidare i uppsatsen beskrivs den tidigare forskning och teori som funnits inom inspiration och kreativitet. Metoden som använts är textanalys och det för att kunna analysera vad det är författarna verkligen menar. Uppsatsen tar även upp kreativitet i relation till inspiration då de är två begrepp som relaterar till varandra.

The aim of this thesis is to examine how a context-specific form of abstracting of fiction film developed in relation to the cultural policy of Internationella biblioteket IB, theoretically can be motivated and practically shaped. The background of the cultural policy of IB is analysed and theoretical standpoints and problematic aspects regarding subject representation discussed. Theories which claim intersubjectivity as an ideal for subject representation and searches for objectivity in the process of subject analysis are criticised in light of the concept of interpretation as the only means to produce meaning and subjects in relation to fiction. Birger Hjørlands context-oriented theories of subject representation are used to theoretically motivate the context-specific form of abstracting. To suggest how a practical framework for abstracting can be created, film theoretical models of interpretation are examined in relation to the field of subject analysis and formal criteria of abstracting.

The object of this explorative theoretical study is to compare similarities in three perspectives for evaluation of credibility. The perspectives are the historical method source-criticism, cognitive authority and domain analysis. These perspectives, regarded as intellectual tools for critical thinking in a process of information seeking, by asking questions about credibility related to the social and theoretical context of the intellectual background, can give support in articulating which documents that gives a specific and essential answer to a question. In this sense credibility is seen as a qualitative aspect of relevance. Patrick Wilson argues that we can attain some critical independence towards cognitive authorities and the literature by investigating the social and theoretical topography of a field.
